I am putting a camp for canoeists on that stretch of the Colorado River you describe. It will have a bathroom/shower house, three campsites with picnic tables, water, and a canoe ramp to provide easy access. The ramp, 2 of the sites, office and a septic system are in.
We are located one mile upstream from Flat Rock or about 2 miles upstream from the Hwy 580 crossing in Bend.

I can do shuttles as well. The camp will be open for overnighters although eventually we will have programmatic (i.e. 3-day trips from 190 to Lake Buchanan) trips with discussions on cosmology and philosophy,

I have set up a camp in central Mexico and looking forward to operating Camp San Tomas.
Would love to hear from you,
Bob Davis

The stretch of the Colorado from 190 to the state park is on my short list of future trips. Your trip report is the best guide to this stretch that I've seen. Great job on the trip and report.

How lucky you were to sight an otter! I suspect there are thousands of Texans who don't even know that otter habitat exists in Texas.

Jerry says the bruised leg was worth it, for the excitement of the event.

Next trip, bring some arnica gel along with the medicinal alcohol.

I am Jerry Craven's sister, Gail. This story is much like the one Jerry told me of this trip, except in Jerry's version he caught more fish. Maybe the celebratory beverages affected his memory.
